Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the VeraSlate Companion mobile app

VeraSlate Companion (“VeraSlate”, “we”, “our”, “us”) is operated by Decoveo Limited, a company incorporated in the United Kingdom.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the VeraSlate Companion mobile application and related services (the “Service”).

By creating an account or using VeraSlate, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

VeraSlate is rated 4+ on the App Store and may be used by individuals of any age.

If you are under the age of majority in your country, you confirm that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the Service.

You must create an account to use VeraSlate. Guest or anonymous use is not supported.

2. Accounts

You may create an account using:

  • Email and password
  • Sign in with Apple
  • Google Sign-In

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.

You may delete your account at any time within the app. Upon deletion, your data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

3. Subscriptions & Payments

VeraSlate offers optional paid subscriptions:

  • Monthly subscription (localized pricing may vary)
  • Yearly subscription (localized pricing may vary)

Pricing is determined and processed through Apple In-App Purchases and may vary by region and currency (e.g. GBP in the UK, USD in the US, NGN in Nigeria

Important:
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Billing is handled by Apple.
  • Refunds are processed by Apple in accordance with Apple’s policies.
  • We do not process web-based payments at this time.

4. What VeraSlate Does

VeraSlate allows users to:

  • Upload learning materials (e.g., PDFs, notes, documents)
  • Generate AI summaries
  • Create flashcards
  • Generate quizzes
  • Build structured study plans
  • Share learning materials with peers

The Service uses artificial intelligence technologies, including services provided by OpenAI.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of any content you upload.

You may upload copyrighted material, provided you have the right to use it. You are solely responsible for ensuring your uploads do not infringe third-party rights.

You grant VeraSlate a limited license to process your content for the purpose of providing the Service.

Content Storage
  • Files are stored until deleted by the user.
  • Deleted files are permanently removed within 90 days.
  • You may delete uploads at any time.

We do not actively moderate uploaded content.

6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

VeraSlate uses artificial intelligence to generate summaries, flashcards, and quizzes.

AI systems may:

  • Produce inaccurate information
  • Omit important details
  • Generate incomplete or misleading content

You acknowledge that:

  • AI-generated content is for educational support only.
  • You remain responsible for verifying accuracy.
  • VeraSlate does not guarantee academic performance, grades, or exam success.

7. No Academic Guarantee

VeraSlate is a study assistance tool.

We do not guarantee:

  • Improved grades
  • Exam success
  • Academic outcomes
  • Professional qualification outcomes

Use of the Service does not replace formal instruction or professional academic advice.

8. Data & Model Training

We do not currently use uploaded user content to train AI models.

If in the future anonymized data is used to improve the Service, it will be stripped of personally identifiable information.

We do not log prompts or personal content for model training purposes.

9. Sharing Between Users

You may share learning materials with peers through in-app features.

You are responsible for:

  • Ensuring you have the right to share the material.
  • Ensuring shared content complies with applicable laws.

10. Prohibited Use

You may not:

  • Upload unlawful content
  • Upload malware or harmful code
  • Attempt to reverse engineer the Service
  • Interfere with the infrastructure
  • Use the Service for commercial resale

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • VeraSlate is provided “as is” and “as available”.
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the preceding 12 months.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability where such exclusion is unlawful.

12. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in the VeraSlate application, branding, and underlying technology remain the property of Decoveo Limited.

You may not reproduce, distribute, or modify the Service without permission.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Engage in misuse of the Service
  • Attempt to compromise platform integrity

You may terminate your use at any time by deleting your account.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

However, if you reside outside the United Kingdom, you may also benefit from mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

If changes are material, we will provide notice within the app.

Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
